1st Prize £750 **
Are you the best backgammon player in the UK? Well, by 14 July the answer will be decided. This is because over the weekend 11-13 July, 2014 the UK’s Giant of Backgammon Championship is being held at the Park Inn by Radisson, Nottingham and the overall winner could be taking home £750 (based upon 32 entries **)
Mind you, it won't be easy, the event is a rigorous test of endurance, stamina, skill and guts - certainly not for the fainthearted.
Registration (1030 to 1215) existing Members £15. New members £20 + £5 Registration. Non-Members £20. Entry Fee £20.
The format is a tough test of any backgammon player's skill with matches of varying length and time played over a two-day period and will be a Double-Entry Knockout, Best of Three.
The initial entry field is split into two groups, A & B via an Elimination Round. Winners go into Group A and Losers into Group B. From hereon each Group plays a straight knockout each heading towards a Final between Group winners in which Group A winner starts the 15 point match 5-0 up. Group A & B entrants who lose in the knockout 1st or 2nd Rounds go into the Consolation. For all other players there will be a Last Chance and 3-pointer (the latter subject to timing).
It all kicks off on the Saturday at 12:30 (NOTE EARLY STARTING TIME)
